Post subject: Liberals... the people of tolerance? |
  |
|
Now, I know not all liberals are like this, but some of this crap is getting out of hand. As I drive down Morning Glory, I see 2 yards... one with 2 signs (10 Commandments and Vote Pro-Life) and the other with just one (Bush-Cheney). These three signs have been spray painted with big red question marks on them. The Bush-Cheney sign also has a frownie face spray painted on it.
Most liberals claim to be tolerant, but stuff like this doesn't show it. Who has heard about the stormings of GOP campaign offices? Yes, Ive heard about someone storming a DNC campaign office too, but it's mostly GOP offices that are intruded upon.
I guess you can call me a respect nazi... respect other peoples crap please? If it aint yours, dont mess with it!

Of course bud... taking signs, spraypainting others, spreading blind hatred (literally) for the other candidate.. it's all about tolerance!

You have no idea that the people who did this are liberals. Tolerance, your presumption that the responsible party belongs to one of many political groups just shows hate, fear, and ignorance.

Have you heard about Unions busting into the Bush Campaign offices? Unions are normally liberal.

Eh, if you use "Liberal" as in someone who leaned left, not the specific party, then there is history to back up the assumption. I'd say fear, and maybe a little anger, but hatred, nah, and no ignorance, just speculation.

I don’t think that is strong logic at all, And it has nothing to do with this.
I think it is President Bush who is attacking Unions and not the other way around.
Ok I went and read about the Union people in several states writing notes and post cards to the president to stop attacking them. They are perhaps trespassing, but they are leaving mail page after mail page of letters for the president. This is a different kind of action.

This is not the policy of the GOP by far.

That's my policy.
Anyway, here's the link to the stuff the unions are doing:

Shenanigans, that list only mentioned Unions once, yet you would lead me to thing that that is all Unions ‘plural’ doing stuff.
This story is so full of BS, Nazis burring swastikas. Ok when they say burn they don’t mean fire, they mean they killed the guess grass with weed spray. Lol.
The story says that AFL-CIO claim similar things, yes similar to delving post cards and letters, yes, similar to using weed killer to spread the message, umm. No.
that story only had this to say about Unions...
In Miami, police reported that more than 100 union protesters stormed the Bush-Cheney office and shoved volunteers aside. No one was charged because most of the protesters left before the police arrived.
this a slightly longer version.
GOP workers: We were bullied
By Mike Schneider
The Associated Press
Posted October 6 2004
ORLANDO · Bush-Cheney campaign workers in three Florida cities said they were intimidated by chanting labor union activists who showed up unwelcomed in their offices on Tuesday, protesting changes pushed by the Bush administration on overtime pay.
Dozens of union activists showed up at the Bush-Cheney campaign offices in Miami, Orlando and Tampa to deliver postcards from people opposed to the Bush administration rules that they claim would threaten the overtime payments of chefs, nurses, police officers, journalists, athletic trainers and lower-level computer employees.
In Miami, more than 100 union protesters stormed the Bush-Cheney campaign office and pushed volunteers inside, police said.
No one was arrested and most of the protesters had left by the time police arrived, said Miami police spokesman Delrish Moss.
I dont think this is on par with vandalism.

I totally agree! Some "liberal" people who preach freedom of speech and tolerance and whatnot, are completely intolerant of people whose views are different than theirs.
Right now in Oregon we have a controversial measure up for voting that would define marriage as only between one man, and one woman. The campaign for the measure has had thousands of signs stolen, cars with bumper stickers have been keyed and otherwise vandalized, and people form the "No" campaign barricaded the table for the "Yes" campaign and stole all their stuff.
Way to be tolerant! Oh yeah!

What about extremists who bomb abortion clinics? I find them to be pretty intolerant. However, I don't make any attempt to use this as an attack on conservatives.
I don't think this is a matter of liberals being intolerant. You're taking this one isolated incident and applying to an enitre group of people. You say you know not all liberals are like that, but then you say most "claim" to be tolerant, and that "stuff like this" doesn't show it. Most liberals *claim* to be tolerant because most liberals ARE tolerant. I could tell you about the preacher guy that was in Free Speech Alley on Wednesday and say that many conservatives are intolerant, though they "claim" to be tolerant. But I know that's not the case.

This entire thing is just him showing is digust with the disrepect shown! That is ALL. Why are we getting into a HUGE political debate?
Fact: What he witnessed happened.
Fact: It is disrespectful.
I'm sure conservatives have done such things too. Hell, I'm guilty of it. Granted, I never destroyed or vandalized anything, but I have stuck "on Mars or in France" and "10 out of 10 terrorists agree" signs under a Kerry sign.
It's just that, from my personal experience (and I come from and extremely liberal city), the extreme liberals tend to vandalize/destroy more often.

Word!
I was confused when I was in BR and I saw so many Bush signs. If I see a Bush sign here I always wonder what the joke is.

Exactly! You realize Portland is 85% registered democrats? Yet, OR is a swing state... I need my absentee ballot mailed to me SOON. I hope it comes in soon. I'm still registered in OR . I figured they would need my vote more than LA.
