First of all I‘ll admit I have pore grammar.
Second I am saying this to be helpful not offensive just helpful for some one who is learning English as a second language.
I do not speak the Queens English….
Let me suggest how to improve this sentence.
How much pounds did you get these days?
First ‘how much’ much is normally a qualitative (degree or size) not quantitative (numbers or amount). ‘how many’ would be quantitative.
Next, at least in places I have lived in the US body weight colloquially is ‘gained’ or ‘lost’. Normally one would not say: I get three pounds. They would say I gained three pounds. Some one might say: I get fat. I don’t have any real reason why this is the way it is with gained vs get, it is just how people say this here.
‘these days’ is some kind of present tense, and did is past tense so its not in agreement. Example: common parlance ‘How are thing going these days?’ if you really want to say these days, to make it agree you could try to say ‘these past few days’ but I am not sure that this is proper, but it will work.
So a better question would be:
How many pounds did you gain these past few days?
If I were to ask this I might say.
How much weight have you gained today? (on thanksgiving)
How much weight did you gain this week?

Hey trunks, not bad. You have a pretty good head on your shoulders. Very well spoken. Littlesheep, you'll get better. English is the hardest language to learn if your not from here; well even if you are, it's complicated.

I agree with you completely, but one thing that should be added is that in the English language words are constantly EVOLVING. These days, many words are used interchangably (albeit "officially" incorrectly). Words like "bring" and "take" and "speak" and "talk" and, yes, "how much" and "how many" are used so interchangably that few even notice that those words may have been misused. At some point over the next several decades, it will no doubt be considered okay to use these words in formal English writings, since it is so widespread in informal conversations right now...
Likewise, the French, by banning English words from usage in their formal writings are preventing their own language from being an evolving one, which eventually will also cause its own language's implosion...and, ultimately, extinction of the French language...

Wau, Luke...this is impresing. I am OK with English, ha?
BTW you are not the only one who lost a few pounds. I noticed in the Mall 2 days ago when I was trying some clothes that I lost 3-4pounds and realized I am OK now. If I am going to lose kilos....I could not find less than S, that is my size now. I ma always upset with that weigh....WHY????

why do people around here care so much about whether other people use proper grammar or use words that are in the dictionary?
