I think the Halo 2 idea is good. Don't like the idea of using a playstation.

well, if I had it my way, I'd be blasten away the night with shoulder mounted rockets and shield enhanced space aloy armor. But that's just me... (halo/2 in case you didn't already guess) And it's not poisoning or geek overdrive or whatever. This is usually how I am when not in class...

my guess would be he means the first one. It's too damn easy to die in that game. It's too damn hard to find out where you're supposed to go. I did manage to make it to A dungeon once in that game... Don't know if it was the right one or not... I have all of them except for the SNES or gameboy versions or the newest one coming out, on GameCube. That would be the first two and the last two on a console. Oh and I also have Windwaker, but that's a cutsie game. I never died once while playing it. Wait, I think I did, but only on accident. I was distracted. But I had a fairy so that didn't count as a death. So as a recap, I have the both nes versions, both 64 versions, and, currently, the only GameCube version.
I'd like to make a personal challenge to any who would accept (for Halo2 of course). 1 round, 250 kills, no shields, no grenades, no vehicles, only pistols. Multiple people can accept if they'd like. (that would make for a fun tourny game, but maybe not at 250 kills...) And may the best Pistolero win.

I think we might be onto something here with the vintage video games...
I'm thinking the best bet would be either PS2 with a multitap or an X-Box (because of 4 players) and some sort of football/basketball game .. 2-person teams .. i'm thinking $10 per team ($5 per person) to make up some sort of prize pot for the winner..

ARG!!! too many people with the sports games... what kind of tournament is that? Where's the test of skills? Everyone has access to all the same plays and whatnot... a real test of skill comes from playing fighting games, and shooters. Sports games rely too much on computer involvement. Very little is left for the actual person to control. Yeah in football you get to control the person with the ball, but the computer has to control everyone else, and it may do so poorly. Leaving the outcome to be determined by the computer, not the player. In sports games, it's the player getting played, not the game.
Hey, what about that new Area 51 game coming out. I saw a trailer for it, KICKS @$$! Looks like a half-life inspired game. Similar looking engine, but I can't say much about it, cuz I haven't really played that much Half-life, and I didn't see much in the trailer. It all happened too fast. Maybe it really wasn't a trailer, but a broken memory of a past encounter with our little green friends. That would explain a lot....
Let's get some good fighting games that aren't too steep, and a couple of shooters... REPUBLIC COMMANDO!!!!!!!! I played a little demo of that too... seriously awe inspiring... =P----------
