Voice your opinion. Should we allow people to edit their own posts?

Can't we do that already?
Why wouldn't someone want someone else to be able to edit their post?

Yah, editting is a good thing. It allows for us to insult our fellow tigerU members and then take it back like it never existed.

Well, then ask yourself this: Do you want other people to be able to edit their posts?
And yes, it is already allowed.. But, I've been tossing around the idea of not allowing it anymore.. Mainly because of people dramatically leaving TigerU and editing/deleting all of their posts. There are other reasons I don't really feel like going into, too.

I edited a post to fix a grammar mistake so I wouldn't look like an incompetent being. But I don't think I would edit it to take out something I've said. Because after other people have already seen it, what's the point of taking it out? So in that case, I guess allowing editting isn't necessary...

allow it..i am a dork and misspeel thungs all the timw adn without the edit featuer it would be a sloppy world because i always submit instead for preview..anyone who goes back and changes their words to something that was completely different from the original intention or meaning is just a tool anyway..stopping them from editing posts will not change that..it will only show my poor typing skills..or force me to use the preview button..

I like being able to edit posts to fix minor mistakes that I make especially when I'm tired.

I think editing should be disallowed.

Most forums i am on allow you only a certain amount of time to edit.
Perhaps you get a 3 to 5 minute window.

I've never been to a forum that only had a 3 to 5 minute window. What's the big deal if people want to edit their own posts. If someone wants to drastically change their post then it shouldn't matter b/c they were the ones that originally posted it. Besides if people used the "quote" button it would still show the original and just make the post editor look like a jerk. When you start limiting expressions of being able to correct their own thoughts you are contributing to the cause of a police state.
if you really wanted to clean up the site delete all those multiple account holders and make people only have one name to use instead of worrying about someone OH MY GOD editing their own post.

Then you obviously haven't been to very many forums.
Most of them i post on you have a certain amount of time to edit your posts, and thats it.
If you are posting something that you think want to edit that much later, then you shouldn't say it in the first place.
Don't be wishy washy, post whats on your mind and stick to it.

You're right. I don't go to many forums b/c I have better things to do then to just go to many different forums just to post things.
If you're gonna make posts lockable then at least put a stupid spell check on the forum. 90% of my edits have to do with fixing grammaratical mistakes. However I still feel that it is stupid to make posts lockable where they can't be edited later when I have more time to look over them or am not tired etc... I also know I've had times where I posted here or elsewhere that I started to state something, but I had to go to class or something and was able to come back later to finish the post to have a full thought. Besides what is the big f-in deal if people edit their own stinking posts.
