i was asked this question earlier today.... I have SprintPCS and had it since 1997 with a few problems right when it went completely nationwide. One problem was the voicemail a day or 2 later and cutting in and out. But recently I decided to stay with Sprint and now have the PCS Vision. I pay about $45 a month for everything.... 650 day mins, unlimited night and weekends that start at 7pm, anytime unlimited pcs to pcs, and a camphone that rocks..... never had a problem and service only cuts out in boondock country..... everything is perfect....
my friend has t-mobile and his bill is stupid retarded. he pays like $50 a month for 500 day mins, unlimited night and weekends.... but has problems with 3 phones and service between here and laffy and here and new orleans.
Cingular is cool... rollover minutes are ok but the bills are stupid retarded and if you happen to move and have to switch numbers, you may have troubles getting a new local number.
AT&T wireless is cool and has ok plans..... internet costs too much on it and the phones are very breakable. To D/L a song, it costs like 40cents plus 25 cents for downloading..... correct me if i'm wrong, this is all hear say.
I highly suggest that you get the insurance and look up and speak to all the reps before you decide. I would choose what's comfy for you and would recommend SprintPCS over all. It may be expensive but it's well worth it. Plus if you upgrade or downgrade plans, unlike other providers, it will not add more years to your contract. Customer service is awesome and there's at least 2-4 stores in major cities. Leather cases are good for all phones to protect them from dust and scratches.
Damn I went on and on about it..... hope I helped you out... got questions, PM me....

Cingular has been good... but if you need customer support, plan on waiting in long ass lines at *every* location.

I use Nextel--although a little more than most, can't complain service wise.
However, if you really want to save time and $: www.lowermybills.com.
Check out the cell phone section. It lists every provider in BR including rate plans and specials. I found my long distance provider through them and ended up rates that are obscenely cheap.
Food 4 thought, chomp.

I like Verizon ... the only place in thousands of miles of travel I've had trouble with service is in middle mississippi on I-59 for about 30 miles. The bill's very reasonable (better than my sprint was, and MUCH better than AT&T was back in 1997.).

CINGULAR!!! Yes customer sevice at a couple of there locations are slow, but they keep building cingular buildings everywhere and they are not so busy. So I get in, get out, and get on with my life quickly.

If you want to make international calls from your cell take into account prepaid calling cards. You can buy online a PIN and start making calls from your cell. The rates are pretty low for domestic calls too. I know that (Please click here to inquire about advertising rates) has a pretty good offer.
Hope this helps somehow.
