Note from Clarence #3 : Cajun Musician Practice Sessions (beginners) - Clarence is learning the Cajun accordion and is looking for other beginners in the Baton Rouge area to practice with. Please email me at clarence@cajunradio.org if you would like to get together to practice either in downtown Baton Rouge or around LSU. Cajun Language Class:
There is a cajun language class every Saturday morning at the Galvez library from 10 am to 12 pm. This is just south of Baton Rouge in the town of Prairieville. The Galvez library is located at 40300 Hwy 42 Prairieville. It is free to the public.

The Cajun French Music Association dances are held every Friday night at the Fraternal Order of Police Hall at 10777 Greenwell Springs Rd just past Clegg's nursury in Baton Rouge. CFMA dances are open to the public and newcomers are encourage to join in the fun. Admission is $6 and food is available for purchase. There are free Cajun Dance lessons from 7:00pm-7:45pm and the band plays from 8pm-10:30pm. Also, the CFMA has an organizational meeting on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7:30pm at Brunet's Cajun Restaurant.
Directions: The CFMA dance is held at 10777 Greenwell Springs Rd in the east part of Baton Rouge. Greenwell Springs Rd runs parallel to Florida Boulevard. To get to Greenwell Springs Rd, you start at the part of Airline Highway that runs between the old Earl K. Long Hospital and Cortana Mall. When you turn from Airline Highway onto Greenwell Springs Road heading East, you need to go exactly 3.0 miles. The Fraternal Order of Police sign is very hard to see. It is a wood sign on your left side. It is located 1 block past Clegg's nursery on your left. Also, note that there is a median in the road right where the entrance is, so you have to go an extra block past it and make a U-turn because of the median. If you get to Sherwood Forest Blvd, you went 1/4 mile too far. From South Baton Rouge: From I-12, take Sherwood Forest Blvd exit, turn North (turn right if you are coming from Denham Springs, turn left if you are coming from downtown B.R.) Go down Sherwood Forest until it dead-ends into Greenwell Springs Rd., turn left, go 1/4 mile and turn right into either driveway From Downtown Baton Rouge: Take Florida Boulevard eastward away from the Mississippi River. Take a left on Airline highway heading north. Take a right on to Greenwell Springs Road heading east. The FOP (Fraternal Order of Police Hall) will be 3.0 miles on your left.

Boutin's restaurant has Cajun bands and a small dance floor. It is located in the former Mulate's building of Baton Rouge. The back deck opens to a really neat view of Bluebonnet Swamp where you can feed the fish and turtles.
Directions: From the I-10 / I-12 split in Baton, take I-10 to the Bluebonnet exit. Take a right onto Bluebonnet head west toward the Mississippi River. Boutin's is exactly 1.5 miles from the interstate and just a few blocks past the Jimmy Swaggart complex.

Brunet's Cajun restaurant has cajun music on a couple of Wednesdays and Saturday nights per month. Brunet's is located at 135 Flannery Road in East Baton Rouge at the intersection of Flannery Road and Florida Blvd. (225) 272-6226.
