By Meredith CranchI don’t know about y’all, but I think Baton Rouge gets pretty boring in the summer. As a native of Baton Rouge, being there year-round gets real old real fast. Although I love going to Bogie’s during the school year, even the summer at Bogie’s is not as fun. Every summer I try to get away as long as I can, and this time I was successful.
My usual escape is working at summer camp. This summer I was a counsellor at Camp Ozark, a Christian sports camp in Arkansas. For all of you Average Joe fans, it is the same camp where Clay worked several years ago. I was up there for six weeks: two weeks of orientation and four weeks of actual camp. It was a great time. I learned a lot, and met a great group of people. I wanted to stay longer at camp, but my friends Laine and Julie convinced me to study abroad for the second half of the summer. Needless to say it did not take much convincing.
