In your opinion, has TigerU "jumped the shark"? if so, then when?
Please comment.

PS.. Let's not be assholes about this. I want serious answers; and if you've got them, serious solutions. Anything else will be deleted, and you'll be kicked from the thread.

It has in my opinion. It happened right around the time that TigerU was still having drama concerning Luke which was no one's business and when the ass cheeks advertising of TigerU happened on the chaulkings. My solution would be to go back to what originally made TigerU so big at the beginning. Don't do disgusting advertising for it where it attracts only weirdos instead of just everyday nice people. I know when I first joined TigerU it was fun watching all the people chatting and everybody showing up for the bowling on Tuesday nights etc..., but it hasn't been the same in quite a while which is a shame since I used to enjoy just reading all the new posts and the chatting going on in the rooms while it is now close to non-existant.

I don't really know. It stopped when school got hectic I think and people never came back.
My idea is like Josh said..watch those sidewalk drawings. Just putting TigerU.com and the saying yall have..decreasing your productivity since 1998 is funny. I wasn't really into the booty drawings myself and I know it wouldn't attract me to the site. I would think its a weird porn site or something..
or perhaps, football needs to start again to get people talking. Mention that on sidewalk chalk..football forums and chat. That will get people .
hope that helps!

First off, "jump the shark" is a stupid expression. Second, they're right. The sidewalk drawings at the beginning of the semester did it in. And the Andrew/Brigid vs. TigerU thing also helped turn people away. Let's see, we lost Phil, Isaac, Mooshell, Erin(basically), Andrew, Brigid, Ray(Thank god), Brandi, that girl that gave Carl a handjob, my girlfriend Erin, Alex 2, Stacey and her boyfriend, and others I can't think of, as regulars, since I started coming on. And while some of the departures were welcome, most made interesting posts. And I think the major reason for this "jump the shark" business is because there are no more TigerU gatherings like movie nights and going to the park and stuff. Oh well, whatever.

Ok, the first 3 replies have mentioned gatherings.. If someone wants to be an "events coordinator," let us know..
This may involve contacting various places and seeing if they offer group discounts, or organizing park outings, videogame/sports tournaments, movie nights, whatever.. We wouldn't be able to pay for the position, but we could give you a really cool title and rank graphic..
I need my current forum moderators to keep an eye on things.. If anyone wants to volunteer to be a moderator, please let us know..
Alex is really in charge of chalking (the only time I've gone was a bad experience, never again), but if anyone wants to volunteer to do that, it'll probably be done the night before the fall semester begins. So let us know if you're interested.
You can either email (webmaster@TigerU.com) or PM one of us, or whatever, y'all know how to reach us..

I would say once football was over, the campus is less social.
I think the drama is irrelevant. The site should get new members on a regular basis. More popular sites like facebook and myspace draw people in with established populations are better than TigerU at attracting new people.
It is imposable to talk intelligently on any topic on this site. One of the mods “sunny” does nothing but troll.

There's a difference between "jumping the shark" and "being in a slump." These things are ebb and flow.
Also, the admins should keep a balance between trying to attract new members and trying to keep current members. It is my opinion that attracting new members became (yeah, this sounds stupid) too much of a priority, and some long-time members became alienated.
Remember when Mike Leach's retard brother Tim was flaming on the football forum? We picked on him, and then one of the admins comes in and says to him "Don't worry about those guys--they're idiots" or something. That kind of thing rolls off my shoulders because I've known AWE & BenKenobi since before TigerU/LSUchat existed, but some people can be offended and feel shunned by such an apparent act of desperation for new members. From time to time it appeared that new members were treated as royalty while old members were taken for granted.
Having said that, I can in no way relate to participating in actual "drama" on any of these forums. Maybe it's because I'm a grownup; I don't know.
My advice to the admins is strive for stability above everything else. Don't lose your base. A lot of people are loyal to you guys; make sure they don't forget it.

They do have a point though. Everytime somebody new shows up on here someone always attacks them for something. Like the viral video person. Ok i guess I did put in some nonsensical two cents but the attacks on their intelligence and whatever really runs people off. We can all flame each other b/c we all pretty much know each other but others who are new take it the wrong way and leave.

Well, I find this very interesting. The forums have been dead lately, except for the on uprising about the site's creator. Forums were on the rise as the politics were raging. It always seems that when there is a flame war going on some old regulars come back, like Genieinabottle. Then again most of these new people have been run off, by regulars being mean to the newbies when they say something that is disagreeable. Other have been run off because they deserved to like Brigid and Andrew, or left because of their own choice, Mooshell, Ichiban, Aprilyn, etc... I never looked at the viral video thread, topics like that interest people like Cyber22 and Rwnugent (no offense).
I personally think Alex has gone to far with organizing all the forum topics on the site. No one really uses the extra forums like the Alpha Theta Epsillon, or the Zeta Tau Alpha. These are useless to me and take really long to load if you are on dial up. I think he should group all of these under one Category: Green Life @ LSU. Same with Sports Forums, Sports @ LSU.
With people posting things that are serious about one user committing beastality, not many people are going to be attracted to this site. To post something joking about certain things is one thing but an accusation on ones moral character in a forum, insites drama and ridiculousness within this site. People need to learn to restrain themselves from posting such things that would affect the rest of tigeru.com. People need should learn to personally attack someone privately rather than publicly. I know from experience, I had most of the ladies on tigeru.com hating me because of an accusation by Jessica (Aprilyn), and though this is digged up bones in a graveyard so to speak, this is a good example. She should have confronted me privately rather than getting the entire online community to want to kick my ass, I still will not forgive certain people that are friends with her or even take her side in the matter. But all this aside, this site would be more attractive if there wasn';t constant CRAP in the forums like that. If I was AWE, I would have censored that entire topic, it isn't good for EvanGar Enterprises.
What else is there? New people sign up everyday just to post SPAM. I know we are dealing with it, but thats a problem still.
Everyone tryto play nice, and act civilly in a debate in a forum; unless of course you are attacked first, retaliatation is always ok.

I'm sure you mean Greek ...
but there is a reason for that.. Having those forums puts us at the top of A LOT of searches.. for example, on Google, we are:
*#1 on google for LSU Volleyball
* #11 for LSU Baseball
* #34 (out of 1.19 MILLION mind you) for LSU Football
* #41 for LSU Baksetball
* #2 for LSU Tigers message board
* #1 for LSU Tigers forums
The list goes on.. each of those message boards' names puts us VERY high on google for whatever the name of the board is ..

There must be a way to hide it so it doesn't clutter the hell out of the site though.

One of the problems here is multiple screen names. I am not talking about ones that are obvious, (Trunks/MrTrunks) even tho it is a little lame. But all the people that create names just to talk shit about other people. When that was big, alot of people started leaving and the mods weren't really allowed to do anything about it.

I think the main problem is that the site administrators have gotten too wrapped up in trying to get new people and outsource that they have forgotten what most of the tigeru community wants. I, like others, want simplicity. This site was become way too overly complex. It's only a forum site and yet, there are banners and advertisements EVERYWHERE, EVEN in the chatrooms now. I just want some chatting and some forums and you guys have turned it into something that is more complex than differential equations. Same with the website hits, do the actual users even care about this, it just seems like you are trying too hard to make this site better and it just gets worse and worse with the more stuff that you add. It's starting to remind me of how cluttered Alex Evan's house is. This site was created for the people and by the people. The regular users are the ones that make this site come alive. I get the feeling all the admins care about anymore are the website hits, donations, and advertisements: not the users.
This is not a personal attack on anyone, I just think this should be said. I think the admins have made this site too complex accidentally and haven't realized it, but compare it to other sites, other sites aren't this cluttered and busy. Just look at tigeru from an objective point of view, the way to get more people, less spam, and more regulars is to reorganize this site and clean it up.

I agree with Carl a bit. Once again, it's not a personal attack on AWE or BK. For one it takes so freakin long for the site to load now because of the banner ads and the IM. The ads in the middle of the chat are annoying. There are what... 3 google-style ads on the site now? Too many.
Personally, I believe the hot or not has outlived itself. Maybe others use it... I dont anymore. Possibly get rid of the "who is where" or at least where it lists the visitors.
It says a lot for AWE and BK to keep a web site like this. Admins get a lot of hell from users, and it's easy for someone to get discouraged and quit.
