They are free to use -- within reason -- their purchased pixels to advertise a website of their choosing. While this is similar to the Million Dollar Home Page, Pixel Champ includes a unique twist.
"While spending the money on college is a great idea, that's not an option for myself as I recently graduated from Louisiana State University," says Rymer. "I figured, why not spend the money on something really cool?"
In this case, "something really cool" is the sponsorship of a car that competes in Bridgestone Presents the Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford for 1-2 races during the 2006 season. By sponsoring a car, Pixel Champ has the opportunity to provide more "bang for the buck" for the people who purchase pixels. By placing the Pixel Champ logo and URL on a car, there is an even greater reach through television, print, and the web.
Pixel Champ will also be donating some proceeds to various charities. Those charities will be announced at a later date.
As of November 9, 2005, fans can go to Pixel Champ's website at www.pixelchamp.com and purchase pixels. The site is guaranteed to be online until November 9, 2008. With a minimum purchase of $100 for a 100-pixel (10x10) square, it's one of the best web advertising values out there.
"I believe we can raise the money to properly sponsor a car through this project," said Rymer. "I've been a fan of the Champ Car World Series for a long time, and I want to show my support any way that I can.
"With the opportunity to reach millions of people for a very low price, why wouldn't you purchase some pixels?"
