sorry, I just need to rant.

the war we are fighting is not necessary....we arent even going after the people that attacked us....and people are losing their lives for no reason. I'm not saying Kerry or anyone else would have been better, but it couldn't be any worse.

its just bullshit, he does what he wants, instead of getting the support of the people he needs to get support from. I'd like to think other candidates would have at least stopped for a second to rethink some of their decisions. At least Kerry admitted when he was wrong.

what are the reasons we went to war? 1) to stop terrorism......well, we were attacked by osama, not sadam 2) wmds......which never existed 3) to solve the oil issue.....hmm, seems to me gas prices have SKYROCKETED since we've been there.

There is talk of us pulling out in early 2006, but I don't believe it for a minute. Of course, before that, we are going to have to send over more troups to make sure that an election can be held in December.

I understand that the fact that 1800 people have died is much less then back in Nam, but damn, we shouldn't have lost any of these lives. And of course the media will never talk about the near 14,000 soldiers that have been wounded, or how about the 23,000 iraqi civilian deaths.

sounds like a good time to take a 30 day vacation huh bush? Vacations in August are always good....remember what happened right after your monthlong vacation in August of 2001?

ok jason i agree of course but in order to be effective you are going to have to use some new material. get on the judicial appointments issues and drug war issues and throw in a little Iraq to keep things spiced up.

I know that I have falen off in my political commentary since last year but back then I was unemployed and bored now I work all day and I don't feel like doing the necessary research to fuel these debates.

As a matter of fact someone should fire these things up in the Debate Arena forum.

Just remember the debate arena rules when you post. I think only mods can post new topics in there so if you can't start a thread just email or PM me with your idea and I will post it and you will receive full credit for coming up with it if all that is important to you.

sounds like somebody cracked open a bottle of my favorite whine: Chateau Liberal 88; judging from the aroma it must be from the Douche Vineyards.

Can you at least admit that some things Bush says are totally moronic in nature? I am a republican by the way.

I was under the understanding that, when this war started, the goals were a) to depose Saddam Hussein, thus liberating the citizens of Iraq, and b) to avoid being attacked on our own soil.

If I was under the correct impression then, THIS WAR IS A COMPLETE SUCCESS.

The liberation of millions, regardless of nationality or creed, is worth the death of thousands, regardless of nationality or creed. If you disagree, fine. Just make sure and wave your Confederate flag proudly.

People laughed at GWB a year ago when he said there would be elections in January. Remember anything that happened on 1/30/05? Nobody in the media seems to mention that.

Saddam is now worthless. Therefore, the world is a better place. Thank God that George W. Bush is President.

Don't be mad at me, JasonB. I want you to still come to The Family Dinner shows.

but again, who attacked us on 9/11? was it sadaam? no

So, yeah, according to you, the war is over, mission accomplished, lets have the president fly onto an aircraft carrier and whip out a giant mission accomplished banner behind him, oh wait, we've already done that. How many people have died since then?

Jeremy, thanks for adding insight to the conversation. Get over it huh? I'll make sure the next time i get pulled over for speeding that I can just say..eh...get over it, its in the past, and that makes it ok. The next time someone gets attacked in London or New York, Eh...get over it. Would you tell the families of the loved ones lost in 9/11 to Eh...get over it?

Absolutely. You'd be a retard not to agree. Letterman probably does the best job of illustrating that on a nightly basis. I laugh everytime he does, too. I also agree that there are many things he has done wrong in the past 2.5 years concerning Iraq and others issues as well (i.e., stem cell research).

However, considering the world in which we now live, I'll take a strong principaled leader who emasculates the English language over and well spoken, intellectual wind tester anyday. Here's why. Arguably, in the 20th century, the 3 most ineffective leaders to be elected president were also arguably the smartest: Woodrow Wilson, Richard Nixon, and Jimmy Carter.

Even Bill Maher gave GWB props Tuesday night on Letterman when he said that he's attacking the problem of terrorism with a long-term view. He said he respects him for that because most politicians usually go for the short-term answers to help their political career.

Have we made some blunders? You bet. Have a lot of young men and died needlessly over there? Absolutely. Would things be any better had we folowed the wishes of the UN and all who are/were opposed to the war? I doubt it.

The fact is we are fighting an enemy like no other in the history of our country. These assholes firmly believe that Allah wants them to destroy all who don't follow the Koran according to their fucked up extreme doctrine. In case you don't know, that's us - the infedels. Reasoning and negotiations are totally fruitless with these kooks. Sadly, violence is basically the only thing they understand and respond to. History has proven this time and time again. Suliman the Magnificent showed us how to deal with them. Of course, I'm speaking of the extremist ilk, not the everyday muslims, of which I have many friends and acquaintances.

Bottom line: War is bad, but not taking appropriate measures to protect yourself from a known threat is retarded. So say "hello" to Michael Moore on the short bus for me, will ya, Jason?

So what do you suggest? How would you deal with the terrorists?

Do you think when Jerome Bettis' girl is on top, she calls it "riding the bus"? Since he's black, I doubt it's a short one.
