This reminds me of when I was in 8th grade math class.
The book said something like "compute the quotient of 245 and 34 and square the result." I thought "square the result" meant draw a box around the number, so I did and the math teacher griped me out and threatened to send me to the office if I made any more "smart-alec remarks".
I bout started crying right there in front of all my classmates, which woulda branded me as a pussy who needed daily ass-kicking, so I didn't. Turned out later on this teacher became my favorite in middle school - Junior high.
