To reiterate the rules, since there have been some questions:- To be eligible for the grand prize of a TigerU t-shirt, you have to have participated in at least five weeks of the contest. As of this week, a few of us will have done just that, and I will include only those eligible in the standings from there on out.
- Ties are ties for the rest of the season. If a game is postponed, we all get a tie for it. That game may resurface later in the season and is treated like any other game.
- new rule: For every week you do not participate, you will receive a tie at the end of the season. This gives a slight advantage to those who participate more. The pick 'em will have 15 "weeks"--14 regular season weeks and the bowls. We will predict all 28 bowls, and they will count as regular games.

| Sunny wrote: | | Where did those rankings come from? LSU #33? Purdue #4? WTF? | The Big Ten and Big XII will always benefit from my system in the first few weeks because of the placements of their schedules. For the most part, these two conferences play their non-conference schedule at the beginning of the season. Since most of these games are rent-a-wins, the conferences pile on wins out the ass. The SEC, ACC, and Pac-10, on the other hand, have their conference games almost evenly dispersed throughout the season.
In addition, my system is flawed until the final gun of the final game because you get credit for the wins of all the teams on your schedule, even before you play those teams (ie, LSU hasn't played VU yet, but their loss to Navy hurts them even now). Note that my top three teams are all in the Big XII South. That's because half the BXII is undefeated and they all pretty much play each other. That will even itself out in a few weeks.
This flaw could simply be solved by my adding to each team's schedule on a per-game basis, but that makes the system all the more tedious. I prefer to, at the beginning of every August, plug in all scheduled games before a single down is played.
If I ranked the conferences, the Big XII would be the best conference because of its considerably better record than all the other conferences. Since it goes .500 in its own conference games, that rating will lower over the course of the season.
In short, Purdue is ranked so highly because a) they are undefeated and b) most of their opponents are undefeated. LSU is ranked rather lowly because a) they are not undefeated and b) neither are most of their opponents.

Notre Dame | Thank you, Mia, for predicting the games for the right week. (And did you write that time correction for Veronica? She was pissed!)
