A few friends and I need some recommendations for next semester.

I already had to drop Rob Rioux's class. I don't want to have to do it again. I don't care too much if I learn the material... I just want a good grade.

Who's a good choice?

Hey man, I'm going to fail 1552 also. Sign up with me in Paul Britt's class. Yes, it's a 7:30 class, but i had him for 1023 AND 1550 and he is an EXCELLENT teacher. He curves so that the class average is 75% on all tests. Meaning if the class average is 60%, everyone gets to add 15 to their test score.

he also gives quizes in class, but they're in groups so they are easy grades.

I'm so takin Britt again next semester.

7:30 class! I'll see about it. That's pretty early for me though. Guess I won't have trouble finding a parking spot...

Yeah, that's the best part about it. I parked by the Chem E building every day before class (where the airplane is). It's indeed early, but you get used to it after a while. You did it in high school and middle school.

The people who rate teachers on that site are usually just whining for stupid reasons.

Alex, haven't you taken that class like 12 times? Surely you have a recommendation...

I can't recommend anything if people are looking for an easy A. Calculus isn't easy.

yeah, especially calc 2. But Britt is a good teacher, not an easy A. He prepares you well for his tests, and that's about as close to an easy A as you can get with Calculus.

I can recommend Britt and Egedy. Both are fair and will give you all of the tools you need to succeed. The rest is up to you.

Last time I used aroundu.com I ended up w/ a shitty teacher. Twice! So, screw using those ratings. Only people that usually use them either did extremely well or are pissed off at stupid stuff.

I don't want an easy A. I know Calc II is hard. I just want a fair teacher that isn't going to give you curve balls on the test.

my math experience at LSU can only tell you this: Britt is good, Lisan is bad.

How to make an A or B in Math

1. Attend class
2. Do assigned homework
3. Review daily
4. Attend class
5. Ask questions
6. Communicate with your instructor (very important!)
7. Attend class

If you do all of these things, then test preparation will be nothing more than an hour or two review.

There are no excuses. Math is hard and you have to do hard work. I hear people complain that the instructor didn't teach it to them; all the instructor can do is give you the tools to succeed--they can open the door, but you have to step through it.
