By Damian FoleyAfter a long off season spent preparing to make amends for its unglamorous 2004 Final Four exit, the No. 2 LSU Lady Tiger basketball (3-0) team finally got its 2004-05 campaign underway with an 81-50 thrashing of the Maine Black Bears in the opening round of the Women’s Sports Foundation Classic in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Thursday night.
Preseason Naismith Award candidates Seimone Augustus and Temeka Johnson led the way with 17 points and six assists respectively, while 6-6 freshman center Sylvia Fowles announced her arrival with a 13 point, 11 rebound night that turned more than few heads. In all, fourteen of the Lady Tigers scored, and no one player saw fewer than six minutes playing time.
