Ok, so i'm a conna sewer (thank god we have people here who will correct my spelling) of cheeseburgers, and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on the best cheeseburger in baton rouge.

I've been to brewbachers, wasn't really impressed...
been to georges, that was pretty good, but i've had much better...
cheeburger cheeburger, big but not tasty.....
backyard burgers, horrible...
frostop, pretty decent, but nothing special...
flamers in the mall of la, alright, but bland...
pluckers, really bland...
j alexanders, one of the better in br....
rouls, also one of the best i've found so far

i'm really thinking the best burger i had here was in the state capital, they have a lunchroom downstairs where all the senators and legistlature eat...and its even served on official state of louisiana plates..

anybody else have a good suggestion? I have a day off tomorrow and i'd like to try something different!

if you'll settle for a sandwich, and are willing to drive... go to Bay St. Louis, mississippi and find "the buttercup bakery" go at LUNCH TIME because they don't sell the sandwiches all day. OMG.... best sandwich EVER.... *drool*

what kind of sammich do you speak of?

i'm slowly getting myself into the club sammich....and the club sammich at j alexanders is the best by far....

if i'm gonna drive for a good meal, i'm either heading to foley alabama to eat at lamberts (home of the throwed rolls) or i'm going to new orleans to eat the popular (among myself) 3 burger combo at krystal and half dozen donuts at dunkin donuts...mmmmmm thats tasty!

Lee's Hamburgers in Slidell is worth the trip... Locally Cheesecake Bistro has a pretty good BBQ Cheddar burger... Riverside Patty downtown is also really good

Had to do it dude. Actually if I go out and eat I usually don't get a burger or any kind of sandwich. I know McAllister's has one called 'The Big Nasty' which is a roast beef sandwich smothered in gravy and it is good. Plucker's used to have a burger that had a pineapple ring on it, I forget what it is called but it is really good. Also Lea's Lunchroom in Lecompte is supposed to make the best ham sandwich in the world. I don't know much about it since I have never had one but that is what I have heard. Anyways good luck on your burger quest.

BTW shouldn't this be in the food forum?

i also left out bennigans, and their big irish burger, thats pretty damn tasty as well, just expensive.

i've never been to mcallister's deli, maybe i'll hit that up today.

maybe the official tigeru spellchecker/grammar perfectionist didn't know how to spell connoisseur

red robin is YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMY

thats one of the best burgers i've ever had in my life...

riverside patty does suck, that they are only open for lunch, found that out when i called today..and got horrible customer service over the phone...maybe i'll get there someday

royce....the big nasty...i took your word and went to mcalisters today for the first time. I felt akward ordering something called the big nasty, but the chick sounded pretty hot when she said it back to me. the big nasty was actually really nasty, i dont like their gravy at all, so that ruined it. but it was worth a shot...

i wasn't aware there was a food forum, sorry i posted in the wrong spot Sad

well as a distant second to the grill in my backyard, I suggest the Big Cheesy Lou from Louie's near the North Gates of campus..of course I have only had it after a night of drinking so it is always splendid..order it cooked medium and add sprouts (if you like bean sprouts that is) bacon is also a good topping choice..otherwise dressed is the way to go..I always leave with a smile..but that could be because I am drunk when I walk out..

Plucker's used to have a burger that had a pineapple ring on it, I forget what it is called but it is really good.

It was called the "Hula Hula Burger"

They discontinued in in their last menu change for some reason..

Ironically enough.. it was the only burger I ever ordered from them.

Their bread didn't seem right to me.

As far as burgers go Ruby Tuesday has a pretty good burger - The Smoke House Burger.

We used to go to Ruby Tuesday all the time but after then went all Atkins happy I don't like it anymore. Plus they would change the menu design every other week (almost literally).

The Faculty Club has the "Gourmet Burger" which I've had the past 2 times I went to the FC and it was pretty good.

BARF!! you liked the Big Irish?? I had it once and I will never eat it again..it was tasteless..except for that distinct flavor of EWW..in fact the only thing that I will order at Bennegins besides Jameson and car bombs is the buffalo chicken sandwich..

Dude, you're right about that. I had that not too long ago and it was dry and almost burned.
