Martha Stewart to host new 'Apprentice'
NBC plans to broadcast an additional version of the hit reality show featuring the domestic diva.
February 2, 2005: 6:56 PM EST

NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - NBC said Tuesday it would broadcast an additional version of the hit reality show "The Apprentice" featuring Martha Stewart as host.

The new edition will be titled "The Apprentice: Martha Stewart," the peacock network said. Donald Trump, the host of the original "Apprentice" and creator Mark Burnett will serve as Executive Producers of both series.

"The Apprentice: Martha Stewart" will retain the general format of the original series including weekly eliminations, but the format of the show will be tailored to Stewart's personality and brand identity, according to the network.

The tasks will be centered around Stewart's areas of expertise: media, home renovation, entertaining, design, merchandising, technology and style.

"I am thrilled to be able to offer my good friend Martha the opportunity to join me in the success of 'The Apprentice,'" Trump said in a statement. "I hope she has as much fun as I do with this venture."

Stewart is currently serving a 5-month sentence at a federal correction facility in Alderson, W. Va., for obstructing justice during a government investigation of her 2001 sale of ImClone stock.

She is due to be released from federal prison March 4th.

That is BS! Did you know that in "Club Fed," after you get out your posessions and assets are taken away by the government? WTF!!! Now, she is out on "good behavior" and now is going to be on the apprentice show. She is going to be rich again and it's all because of the media. SHIT SHIT SHIT! I can't stand that woman, if you watched that Martha Sewart movie, you would find out that she was a real bitch to get where she was at. She walked all over people to advance herself, no moral obilgations to the world whatsoever.

Strange how Martha Stewart is sentenced to prison for a little insider trading and most of the Enron execs who screwed thousands of employees out of their life savings got off scot free.

Don't downplay what Stewart did by comparing it to Enron and calling it a "little insider trading." I would agree that insider trading is as stupid as Prohibition. However, Insider Trading is against the law and as Americans we all should be law abiding citizens. Eron executives all should have been indited and sent to prison as well.

Why. The Enron bail out is costing more than one billion dollars. It cost stock holders more than 1.3 billion in lost stocks, including some 60 million that was in teacher and state employee retirement plans in Texas. Enron is estimating that the cost of all the litigation is approaching a billion. People suspect Enron was artificially costing raising electric rates costing the people in Western states more than 1.6 billion dollars more than they should have paid for power. Simultaneously they abused the deregulated environment and lied about profits, crushing competition. Now the companies that need to rebuild the energy system are left with an astounding 3+ billion dollars in need up grades.
The Enron deal has a total associated cost of possibly more than $7 billion.
Martha Stewart profited 51k off her stock deal.

Let me put it in perspective. Cost rise, Martha’s deal was like some one throwing a rock though you’re a window of your house. The Enron deal is like some one bulldozing every home on a large city block.

In King Kong terms of destruction, Super Martha stepped on one nice Lexus. Super Enron destroyed both towers of the world trade center, one huge international air port, and a couple space shuttles.

http://www.courttv.com/trials/stewart/background.html

From California to New York, pension funds for teachers, police officers, firefighters and other public employees lost at least $1.3billion investing in Enron Corp., a Daily News investigation shows.

The News' analysis concluded that the losses can be attributed to a complicated combination of bad timing, greed, a failed merger between Enron and Dynegy Inc., pension-investing rules tied to index funds and large stock sales by executives at the bankrupt Houston-based energy firm.

New York City public pension funds — $85billion in assets overseen by the city controller's office, with trades executed by outside equity managers — took one of the largest hits in the country, losing $109million.

The city's five funds — one each for firefighters, police, teachers, other Board of Education employees and all other city workers — lost big money in Enron stocks and in $30million worth of the company's bonds.

Other big losers: Florida, $306million; California, $195million; Georgia, $127million; Ohio, $115million, and two funds in Texas, $60million.

Must we disagree on everything? They both were wrong and all those in the Enron scandal as well as Martha Stewart should have been thrown in prison.
