Aha!
http://knoe.net/fullstory.php?id=228
| Quote: | Entergy customers across Louisiana will receive refunds of up to $90 on their electric bills, some as early as next month.
The refund is part of a settlement approved by Louisiana's Public Service Commission.
But, not everyone agrees with it.
TV8's Sara Lezama reports critics say it's not enough, especially when Entergy could be set to raise rates again.
At it's special meeting in
Ruston Wednesday, the Public Service Commission voted 3 to 2 in favor of a $90 million settlement. The agreement grew out of an old argument between Entergy and the PSC over how much money the company made and what price consumers should pay for electricity. Lawyers for the commission and some commisioners themselves say the settlement should have been for millions more. But, Entergy executives say it represents a compromise between the company and the commission's position.
Mike Twomey, of the Entergy Regulatory Affairs, says, "You try to set the rates at the right level as time goes by, you may find that you set them too high or too low and there's periodic adjustments to those rates where customers may get money back."
Foster Campbell, Public Service Commissioner, says, "Consumers in Monroe-West Monroe, I'm not making light of it, they'll get $8 back."
Campbell is opposed to the terms of the settlement. He says it is not enough and the commission voted in favor of the company, not the consumers they represent. He says, "The problem with Entergy in Northeast Louisiana is they're paying 9.5 cents for kilowatt hour for electricity but if you lived in Shreveport or Bossier, it's 6.5 cents." Entergy executives contend that what they charge their customers is dependent on how much it costs their company to provide electricity to the area.
Campbell says, "Entergy has to do something to lower their rates, and to add insult to injury, next month their coming back to ask for a rate increase." Entergy says it's asking the commission to adjust rates to reflect the investment it has done recently in its service network. Sara Lezama, TV8 News. |

Want free electricity? This doesn't include the cost of a unit.
Put one of those wind-powered electricity generators on 3rd street.
