My name is Fred Poe living in Tampa, Fla. I am trying to locate any pic I can find of my father who attended lsu during the years 1928-1933. He played center on the mens basketball team and lettered in 1930. He belonged to the Sigma CHi fraternity. He is listed with this fraternity in the 1931 gumbo year book but there is no photo. His name was F.E. Poe and if anyone should happen to be able to round up a pic of him that far back, I would sure appreciate hearing from you. Thanks Fred Poe

I'm assuming his last name what Poe.. what was his first?
And that sucks that the gumbo doesn't have a photo.. that was going to be my first suggestion.
I would hope they would have a photo from the basketball team also.

His full name is Fred E. Poe but I am told by the lady that has the 1931 gumbo year book that he is listed at the fraternity as F.E. Poe. She said there is a basketball team picture in the year book but no names of the players are listed. She said my father was not in the regular student section of the year book at all. This is all kind of strange but maybe my father didnt like his picture taken or something like that. I just really wanted to locate a photo of him since in various moves, we have lost all our photos of family. He played center and I do know he lettered in basketball in 1930. I wish i could find someone living that played during those years that might have some old pictures that I could get a copy from. Thanks for your post.

I may have gotten a good lead on where to go to find an old basketball photo of my father. Bill Stafford of the Louisiana archives suggested I contact the Memorial Hill Library. He said they have a lot of old sports photos. I sent them an email and hope I get a response.
