First of all Adam, try not to be a prick. Secondly, I'm not trying to tell anyone that they're stupid. You seem to be obsessed with it at the moment because your reasons for why it matters which hand the research is done on don't even relate.
I'm not unintelligent, just ignorant, like every other human being on the planet.
and I'm in the process of learning English as a first language.
I think it's a reasonable request for you to know what you're talking about before you make a stupid comment.
I said what I said because it doesn't matter wether you research catholicism as a catholic, christian, jew, muslim, or atheist, all the information will be the same unless the person who is providing the information (ie the author, librarian, historian, scholar) is either biased for or against it. So no it really doesn't matter what hand you research on. No information you are "researching" will be first hand information. It will always be either second hand or third hand. It is your responsibility to make sure, if you are researching third hand, that the information you are seeing is not biased information. Not many people can research second hand anyway. And why is it so bad for me to research second or third hand, when the Catholics are teaching either from the same hand or further along?

Oh wow.
I have to agree with Erin on this one. There are bad apples in every major religion, but there are also good people. To single out the bad is a one-sided view, and although situations can make us biased, it's not too smart a thing to do.
as far as the pope being just a man.. he was. BUT, he was a very respected and overcoming man. Read about his life, the guy was an awesome example of overcoming adversity, especially during wwII. as far as being infallible, meh, even Cephas wasn't infallible, in fact he was sidestepped later on in his life for leading people away from the central vision, but the pope IS the world's example of catholic piety, and that means he can't be TOO bad of a guy. I'd trust 'em with my grandkids.

Well, I haven't had the time lately to do much research into it, but there's something about the Catholic church backing Hitler. I just wanted to mention that and see if anybody else knows about it. When I find out more about it, I'll be sure to post it on here to piss off more people.
You may not care what I have to say Adam... but for some reason you keep coming back and reading what I have to say....
And I type fast so I don't have to worry about taking to long to reply.
and let's not be intolerable to other people's opinions, even if you think no one else cares about em.
