It could be because, like mice, they have to gnaw on something or their teeth grow too big.

Give her something else to chew on .. there's various types of sticks and blocks and stuff for 'em..

I used to have gerbils.. We'd always give them the toilet paper and paper towel rolls when we were finished with 'em.

Get a small piece of pine wood (not cedar as it tends to set off allergies) and stick it in the cage.

I have given her something else to chew on and she stills chews on the cage. We had to put her in another cage cause she was fighting with the other girls in the cage. She kept biteing the other girls like crazy and biteing us. The other girls I have don't bite me and my family. She is the only thats bites the family.

Hamsters are very territorial animals and like to be alone.

This particular hamster may just have a disorder that makes her belligerant. I would suggest leaving her in that cage by herself for a while. Also try and spend more time with her, try to hold her and if she puts up a fuss about picking her up, put something in the cage and let her climb on it, then take it out and hold her. Usually hamsters will only bite you if you reach for them in their cage. Sometimes it happens and they stay this way. I have had hamsters like this and most of the time they come around after I spend time with them.

Also if there is a chance this hamster may be pregnant that may be the problem.

If the cage biting is annoying you I would suggest buying a small aquarium to keep her in for a while.

She is just a baby and the there are no boys hamster near her. since I keep the boys in another cage. I can't even pick her up. I can pick the other ones up fine by reaching in there cage and picking them up and they don't but. they might run but they don't bite. it is only her that bites and she did this when I first got her. She was like this whenI first got her and they all are still babies.

If she is still a baby she may grow out of it. She is only doing it because she is scared. It is highly unlikely she is just mean. All I can reccommend is just spending time with her as you are already doing and hope for the best. Unfortunatly there isn't a real solution to this type of behavior. You just have to do what you can and hope she grows out of it.

I am pretty sure over time this behavior will stop.

Why did you delete the post about the chewing of the aquarium sealant? I think that's important. One of my hamsters died young while in an aquarium tank and I bet the verdict was intestinal blockage. That was the first and last time I used an aquarium for hamsters. Maybe you can find aquariums that are fully glass and not in parts that don't require rubber sealant.

Sorry I should have just edited that one part out.

I have never had issues with aquarium, although I am not sure if the rubber sealant is on the inside of the cage. I agree that it would be a good idea to get on that didnt have that.
