According to Ben Jones, who played the wisecracking mechanic Cooter Davenport on the original Dukes of Hazzard TV series, the film version is a trashy adaptation of the classic.

Jones, a former Georgia congressman, said the profanity and sexual overtones in the film have ruined the show’s reputation.

“Basically, they trashed our show,” Jones told the Associated Press about the upcoming Warner Brothers movie.

“It’s one thing to do whatever movie they want to do,” he said, “but to take a classic family show and do that is like taking “I Love Lucy” and making her a crackhead or something.”
