Hey yall! Just posting what my family found when they went back to Destrehan (St. Charles Parish).

Basically, St. Charles Parish is the farthest east you can get without National Guard telling you to turn away. I'm from Destrehan and there is no sewage, water or electricity for at least the next two weeks. The main problem is unpassable streets due to downed trees. Airline Highway however in Destrehan is flooded, because around Gramercy its mainly swamp so I wouldn't try that mode to get home.

Remember boil orders for St. Charles, Jefferson and Orleans...

Check out nola.com or wwltv.com for more information pertaining to your parish and subdivision. Forums have started there to give out information from those who have seen it and also pictures are available on the site.

Good luck to those of you going back home Smile

My folks lived in Metairie near the 17th st. Canal...

i think that they should just make new orleans like venice italy and have canals instead of streets. that way this could never happen again. no need for levees so no levees to break.
