Post subject: Kathleen Bubbaneaux Blanco Sucks !!!!! |
  |
|
My early thoughts on the immediate days following Kathleen Bumbling Blanco's "leadership" on Katrina. Somewhat dated but who cares.
GOVERNOR KATHLEEN BLANCO
The tragedy of 9/11 left the city of New York and the rest of the nation dumbfounded. That was until strong leadership from a then untested President Bush and the fiery Rudolph Guiliani restored hope and strength to the hearts of many. Poll numbers for both went through the roof. There was even unity in Washington, however short lived to battle the enemy of terrorism and to rebuild New York.
Fast forwad to 2005, the city of New Orleans, much of Louisiana as well as the rest of the nation have been beleagured by a new unprecedented tragedy in Hurricane Katrina. Unfortunately from the moment the storm left a new one has arrived in the form of incompetence in Louisiana's elected officials. Governor Kathleen Blanco's news conferences are mostly an exercise in futility, blame shifting, and good ole Louisiana politics. Strength and leadership when Louisiana needs it most are non-existent in Blanco, instead we are left with a "leader" who always looks flustered, and often needs someone (generally Mary Landrieu) to complete her sentences. One day she is crying, the next she is yelling, and everyday she looks lost and overwhelmed. Even more embarrassing, in a recent news conference Blanco forgot the name of the Governor of Texas (Republican Rick Perry) who was nice enough to open Houston and San Antonio and get thousands of refugees off of her hands. Judging by her recent behavior, which is more political in nature than anything else, it would surpise few, if she did not conveniently forget his name so as not to cede "political points" to Republicans. It is sad but probably true.
While thousands are stranded and many are dying daily, Blanco continues to play divisive politics at a time when leadership is sorely needed. Blanco probably under the direction of an irresponsible media and Mary Landrieu then went after Dennis Hastert for supposedly saying, "New Orleans should not be rebuilt" If anyone (including Blanco) cares to look at the transcript it is clear that Hastert is asking a valid question in weather federal funds should be used to rebuild a city below sea level without paying proper attention to the levees and other important infrastructure. Blanco instead of checking the transcript hurriedly jumps in front of a microphone to attack Hastert. While Blanco is playing divisive politics thousands are dying in New Orleans.
Her latest political manuevering, which no doubt takes some planning, while most assuredly taking away valuable time from the problems in New Orleans, comes in the form of Jesse Jackson. Many Louisiana television viewers had to have been shocked to see our Governor suddenly introducing Jesse Jackson at one of her useless press conferences. This no doubt is yet another divisive political ploy hatched by Blanco and her cronies, Landrieu and Mayor of New Orleans, Ray Nagin, in a last ditch attempt to cover their most costly error in this tragedy. Doesn't anyone find it strange that the likes of Blanco and Landrieu come election time have numerous busses on hand to get the poor and minorities of the city of New Orleans to the polls to vote? Heck, Landrieu has it down to such a science that allegedly she has even "commandeered" the dead onto a bus to vote in the city of New Orleans. Yet when a tragedy such as Katrina strikes, Blanco, Landrieu, and Nagin literally left thousands in the city to die. Initially the public was led to believe that these people left behind in the storm were just stubborn and didn't want to leave the city. When people began to put two and two together and realize these people had no way out, the story then quickly changed. We are now led to believe that the refugees are nothing more than a bunch of thugs and criminals to cover the real story of the incompetence of our leaders. Ask yourself an honest question. If you are left for dead by your elected officials in a flooded city for days with no food or water, would you take food from the local Winn-Dixie? Especially when you've been shafted by the government? It is a complete joke that our leaders left thousands of people in buildings such as the Superdome and Convention Center with absolutely no authorities. The result rapes and beatings in the convention center. Not to mention useless damage to both facilities. Our leaders didn't care one penny about those folks even though they are their strongest constituents come election time. So what does this parade of fools do? They go and get Jesse Jackson and bring him to Louisiana so he can run around and blame politicians thousands of miles away in Washington while trying to save face and votes among African Americans. What an outrage! Meanwhile thousands were left and continued to be left by group of leaders more concerned about saving their political hides, than the hides of many helpless people.

To the writer of that tripe:
If you want to play politics at a time like this, may i strongly encourage you to put a bullet in your brain.
To compare this to 9-11 is insane. 9-11 was an attack from a defined enemy, while it affected the country emotionally and financially, it only physically affected about 5 city blocks at most.
This has a much larger emotional and financial burden and a physical impact for millions of people, over thousands of miles. There is no clear enemy because it is a natural phenomenon. While i dont completely disagree with Hassert, it was a dick thing to say this soon.
Perhaps one day you will wake up and realize that there isn't a nickels worth of difference between politicians of ANY party. The State Farms, and Exxon's rule this country.

wow.....write this down....
i'm actually agreeing with Sunny....
All politicians are only politicians to better themselves, in fact, most people in this dog eat dog world are only worried about one person, themselves.
I'm just suprised that Sunny didn't tear apart the original poster's spelling.

Sunny I was not comparing Katrina to 9/11. I was comparing the leadership in the midst of these tragedies. I think everyone would agree that Blanco was and is completely overwhelmed and has offered 0 hope and leadership. A stark contrast compared to Giuliani or Bush in the days after 9/11.

hmmm.....
the phrases
"The tragedy of 9/11 left the city of New York and the rest of the nation dumbfounded. That was until strong leadership from a then untested President Bush and the fiery Rudolph Guiliani restored hope and strength to the hearts of many. "
and
"Fast forwad to 2005, the city of New Orleans, much of Louisiana as well as the rest of the nation have been beleagured by a new unprecedented tragedy in Hurricane Katrina. "
makes me think that it's a comparision.
by the way, my VCR does not have a fast forwad button on it.....is that something new?
If you are going to blame babineaux for anything, blame it on the fact that she's a woman....not her party affiliation.

I agree to some extent with albore. This woman has been an absolute embarrassment standing in front of national teevee looking like a middle school principal caught in the headlights. Way in over her head. ... and for goodness sake actually crying like a f*cking baby on NATIONAL TEEVEE!! And not to be outdone, that other dumb-ass embarrassment Mary Landrieu jumps on a helicopter with a cameraman in tow, making sure her face is toward the camera, SHE's SOBBONG OUT LOUD!! WIPING AWAY TEARS AND SNOT!
I mean god DAMN, what kinda joke IS this? Dumb and Dumbress? How did either of these two actually get elected? Oh yeah, one ran against a person "of color" in Louisiana and the other has a dad who was mayor of N.O. With luck like that, shit'll do for brains.

well, i'm glad to know that you two would have handled a natural disaster like this better then her. I mean, hell, you are 2 guys on the internet, of course you could have done better.
there is no instruction manual called, HOW TO SURVIVE A CATEGORY 4 HURRICANE....and even if there was.....i'm sure no elected official would read it.

Sorry buddy - horrible generalization you made there, besides, how many politicians have you met? You can't speak for all politicians because I know there were those giving their all. Take Senator Boasso for example... I would have people call in and give a location of where people needed to be rescued, I would then call him and he and some friends took their own boats to rescue those trapped. Now tell me that going back into New Orleans on a small boat was to better himself - especially when there were people trying to shoot him and hijack is boat. Not all politicians are out to better themselves - I assure you that many actually care.

well i scanned the press releases and have come to the conclusion that Gov. Blanco gave Pres. Bush authority to use federal means to assist the city of New Orleans the day before the hurricane made landfall. That's pretty quick I think.
I think that FEMA is the one who dropped the ball. They have known about this scenario for decades and this storm had been predicted to go through New Orleans for almost a week yet they had no emergency plans or staging to move in quickly and help people.
I really don't think that Bush intentionally withheld federal support but then again he isn't the brightest crayon in the box anyway (maybe he just didn't know that he was supposed to act quickly). Also I don't think that state leaders should be bawling in front of tv cameras it's just demeaning, to themselves and those they represent.
I can understand why Ray Nagin acted the way he did. He was frustrated and surrounded by devastation and I doubt seriously he was getting any sleep. He was literally in over his head. However something like this cannot be handled on the city level. This was a huge disaster and I think the fault runs from top to bottom and way back into the past.
I fail to see how anyone played divisive politics except Dennis Hastert. I hope someone catches him in New Orleans after it is rebuilt and make no mistake IT WILL BE REBUILT.

This almost made me spit out my drink. I don't think the words "strong leadership" and "President Bush" belong in the same sentence, or paragraph either. He sucks ass as a president, and Blanco is just a governor, which is like being a middle school teacher in the political world. If governors could solve crisis by themselves, we wouldn't need a president, or FEMA. You suck and I hope something bad happens to you.
