I'm a UNO student. I attended LSU during the 2003-2004 school year and then moved to New Orleans. Cut to the chase...When Katrina came I flew to Pennsylvania w/ family. After a week, they drove me crazy. I needed to leave. I'd heard LSU was taking students and housing them. I jumped on it. I called the number LSU posted on their website for displaced students and the guy assured me that if i came by 09/09/05...I'd be guaranteed housing. I doublechecked like a million times. I was listerally like "dude, i'm about to pay for the plane ticket, I wont be able to get there until thursday night. He PROMISED me I would not be turned away. So, I ordered the ticket. The very next day, I went on the LSU website and read that there was no longer housing available. I called that same number and was transferred to a woman at reslife/housing. I told her where I was coming from and when I'd get there. She took down my social and my name and other info, and re-assured me that I'd have a room when I got here. So, tonight I arrived at Pleasant Hall (which is empty) and the guy who's in charge at Kirby Smith didn't see my name on ANY of the lists. None. They told me I have to wait outside until business hours. I'm stuck here in Pleasant Hall, no place to stay, can't rent an apt, i'm basically fucked. I think LSU should AT LEAST pay for a plane ticket back to Pennsylvania. I needed to vent. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

Well, they had to fill the rooms with the constant demand. RAs were taking census everyday of who was supposed to come in and if you weren't there, then the RA reported to Res Life and said here is an open spot and the transfer didn't come in..so all I have to say is sorry bout ya.

The point is he was guaranteed a room on a certain day and when that day came it wasn't there. If there were that many people waiting they should have used a first come first serve basis and not guaranteed anyone a room unless they were standing there with their bags in their hands.

i don't know if i'd rather sleep in the dorms or the floor in Pleasant Hall.(It isn't all that pleasant in there.) And fuck LSU and the RA's and Chancellor O'keefe and Nick Saban and Smoke and Room 130 Howe-Russell and whoever's fault it is that you were fucked over.

My fiancee went to LSU-HSC (Health Sciences Center) in NOLA. Apparently, they're trying to move everything to Pennington, yet most of these people lived in NOLA. There's also no availability for rooms for her either. So most people will have to commute more than an hour to get to class.
The head guy there said if anyone transferred out of HSC for one semester they wouldn't be allowed back. LSU HSC people are assholes. Here at UT HSC, they would have jobs and rooms etc. I think she's gonna wear a UT HSC shirt when she goes back to class in Baton Rouge.

You are the one that suggested the RA’s had something to do with it.
