how bout a life sucks deal with it stance on this issue. giving those refugees free money was the dumbest idea i ever heard. Why couldn't FEMA have just given them the essentials they need. who's idea was this? btw i can't receive calls on my phone because of the hurricane. Can I get $2000 dollars? and cingular is so fucked up i can't get another phone or upgrade my service because they said my address doesn't exist. THE FUCKING BILL COMES TO MY ADDRESS!!! Just tape the damn buill to the box with my phone and give it to the damn mailman i guarantwee you it will get here.

I saw a woman at Wal Mart yesterday using one of those cards. Apparently, you can get cash back with them! I'm pissed... this should be like food stamp cards... food only! Another miscue from FEMA... THANKS A BITCH!

from what I understand only people in Texas got cards as part of a big experiment to see what people would buy. People in Louisiana and every place else, I think they get checks. They can use that money to buy “anything”.

They might as well give out cash. It would be too crazy to give people what they need. First consultants would have to figure out what people need. Then someone would have to collect all the hotel, fuel charges, and such. Then it would need to be added up. Then contractors would need to deliver it.
Before it even gets to giving out aid to people the $2000 per person would be spent just on paperwork and research not on the people.

Well, I don't have a home anymore AND my cell phone service is in-and-out .. So i guess we're almost even.
I'm picking up a debit card tomorrow from a shelter in Clarksville,TN ... You know what I'm using the money for?
* Replace my essential shit that is 10ft under water at the moment. (link)
* Deposit and first couple months of rent on a place to live up here for a while.
* Probably a new bed. Considering i've been sleeping on a vinyl tile floor at the in-laws for the last 2 1/2 weeks.
These damn assholes buying $800 handbags and shit are really pissing me off .. Cause I'm getting lumped into THEIR stereotype ..
