Ok my question is this: They are the University of Alabama. Their mascot is an elephant. They are called the Crimson Tide. What exactly is a Crimson Tide and how is it related to elephants?

btw i searched for University of Alabama message boards and didn't find one. well there are lots of results but i didn't find anything like TigerU or anything you know like a TideU or something. hey AWE maybe you and Chris can start message boards for every university in the country. You know like a TrojanU and a NIttany LionU or a RazorbackU see what i'm saying.

I believe the Crimson Tide is from where the offensive line was so huge it looked like a red wave when they played. The elephant also refers to their size.
Of course, I could be wrong.

Tombo there are many questions such as this. Thank you phoam for that link. I can now sleep soundly. This question has perplexed me for a week and now I am enlightened. On a related note Tulane is the Green Wave maybe they should have a rhinoceros or something.
