The New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets announced today that the three games scheduled to be played in Baton Rouge in March will be moved to the New Orleans Arena, and the two games scheduled to be played in Baton Rouge in January will be moved to Oklahoma. Proceeds from both games in Oklahoma will benefit Habitat for Humanity and the Hornets’ Hoops for Homes program to build twenty new houses in New Orleans.
The good news: The Hornets (yes.. our freakin NBA franchise) is back in Louisiana thank fuck finally since Katrina set everything in New Orleans through a remote detour. And that's happening THIS YEAR, not next year.
The bad news: I bought a ticket to the Hornets/Kings game for Jan 13 at LSU today, and I just found out it's going to be moved to Oklahoma City because of such a low turnout to the first Hornets game against the Suns as LSU. That's f'n ridiculous. People in Baton Rouge have no reason for not going to NBA basketball in their own backyard. What's our problem? Seems like Tiger football is the only thing going on in our state sometimes when in fact that couldn't be further from the truth.
