What should be done about the illegal alien problem we are facing? No one seems to want to kick them out. No one wants to let them stay except citizens on the same ancestry. No one can deny that illegal aliens coming to this country and using our benefits (welfare, public schools, free medical care) are causing a strain on our national and state budgets and also preventing citizens of this country from being able to use these benefits to their fullest potential. Rounding up two million (2,000,000) people and deporting them is unworkable at best. Some of the people that are here illegally really do work at jobs that Americans don't want and for a wage that no American hardly will accept. What really pisses me off is the fact that people who are basically criminals (because they are here illegally) can gather in the streets of our country and PROTEST and DEMAND of us and our government that we give them what they want. Imagine what would happen if all the drug dealers gathered up and demanded that all controlled substances be legalized and unregulated so they could do as they please. There would be a massive roundup of those drug dealers. Also the fact that the Mexican government is DEMANDING of our government that they grant amnesty to all illegals here. Who are they to demand anything of us. How many billions or trillions (sorry I don't have current figures) of dollars of aid have we given to Mexico and other nations and now Mexico demands that we take care of their economic burdens even more. Vicente Fox has muy grande cahones is all I can say.
Here's my solution to the problem.
Step 1: Identify the illegals that are working here. Tell them they are welcome to stay and work as long as they pay their taxes (I hate taxes too but if I gotta pay'em then they should too). Set them up to become full legal citizens of this country as long as they are working and paying taxes. Keep a running tally of how many of these people we have.
Step 2: Check up on current welfare recipients. Interview each one and ask them what is preventing them from holding a job and working and paying taxes. If they cannot show good cause as to why they are own welfare (physical or mental handicap, debilitating disease) then they should be informed that they now qualify for a free vacation in Mexico. At this point tell them that their plane tickets to Cancun, Cozumel, Mexico City will be arriving in the mail with their next check. Just neglect to tell them that the tickets are one way. They will have a free flight to Mexico and even a little adios spending money. It's simple yet it works.
I think this is fair to everyone especially middle class working stiffs like me.

I heard once that some illegals borrowed the social of someone else they worked with. He was accruing a buttload of quarters in his social security "fund".

It's not all that hard to get the necessary albeit false documentation to live pretty normally in this country. Illegal workers aren't all that concerned with accruing social security, unemployment etc. A lot of them only want to make money to send back to their families in Mexico or whatever country they are from. Some of them want to bring their families here others just want to make enough money to retire in Mexico comfortably which doesn't take as much income as it does here.
My problem is that lately illegal aliens are wanting to pretty much annex the USA as part of Mexico. Even though they are in fact criminals just by being here they are allowed to congregate in public and protest something they have absolutely no say in (our political and judicial process). I don't understand why law enforcement agencies in this country don't form task forces to round up these protesters and check their legal status in this country and simply deport those that are illegal.
As hard as it is for me to say this I was actually proud of Pres. Bush for saying that the Star Spangled Banner should be sung in English and that anyone who wants to live in this country should learn to speak English. He seemed rather pissed when he said that and then turned and walked off. I hope this is an indicator that he is going to take a harder stance on this issue.
I think that anyone who wants to live in this country should go through the immigration process and gain legal status. I don't have a problem with immigrants coming to this country but I do have a problem with illegal aliens coming here and using our government sponsored benefits without paying their fair share of the tax burden. Also it appalls me that we allow criminals to gather in our streets and denounce and protest the very people and government which so many of them rely to provide education, medical care, and welfare benefits.

Wow, Royce, that plan is so smart... Im glad I've been tossing it around for the past 2 months! However, it is flawed in that the Mexican government will ship them back because it'll be a strain on THEIR government.
As you said also, I dont mind them coming... I just want them to come the legal way. People forget about their duty (yes I said duty) and just scream about their rights. Ever since when has their been a RIGHT to break the law?

Answer: Build a wall, enforce the laws, kick all non-citizens out.
Question: Why just one wall between Mexico and U.S.?
Answer: People from Canada aren't sneaking into America by the hundreds every week and hanging around here.
I wish it were that simple..
