The admins of this site do a great job. There are lots of good things about this site, perhaps the best of which is the lack of censorship.
I'd like to offer some suggestions for improvement:
(1) The 'home' page does not capture one's attention and draw them in. It needs a frequently updated photograph area (perhaps use pics provided by site users). Boobies should be ok - they're allowed in the gallery and what the heck is so wrong with boobies anyway?
Perhaps a writer's column that posts entries from users.
I don't mean exactly like CollegeHumor, but it's a good guide.
(2) Trim down the message forums. There are too many, especially considering the number of posters. Nix the Katrina forums as well as the sorority, fraternity, and sports forms. Add a general LSU sports forum called LSU Sports. Keep the following forums and cut the rest:
The Quad, Tiger Pause, Sex, Ticket Exchange, Jokes page (make a separate non-forum, non interactive page for Jokes & Funny stories), Photoshopping, change 'TNT' to something more descriptive like 'Flame Pit' or 'Death Valley', Change 'Debates' to 'Politics and Religion'.
Above and beyond, simplify this thing and clean it up. There's simply too much clutter. Most people don't want to take the time to click on everything or go through every forum. Get some eye-candy up. Good example, on the front page, post the pics of the streaker at Tiger Stadium.

Twister, I for one would like to thank you for making this post.
1) It shows that people are still interested in the site.
2) I agree with most of what you're saying.
The site can be cleaned up a lot. It's on our list of things to do. If someone on here who has had some phpnuke or phpbb experience would be interested in stepping up to the plate to help clean things up I would be very happy to have any help either from just feedback to actually having someone help with duties like consolidating forums, updating content and just keeping an eye on the site in general.
Chris and I are working full time as promotional consultants with our Geaux Promotions concern and I've realized that we've sort of turned out backs on our foundation by letting the site fall into disrepair. I've been spending HOURS researching other social networking scripts thinking we may just join the myspace crowd and make it that sort of site... if we do do something like that it will probably not be so focused on LSU though. We realized over the years that because people have unrealistic expectations about how many people should be actively chatting / using a site with realtime features it's difficult to get anything going as far as a realtime thing that TigerU used to be. That's why we like the forums.
TigerU will stay intact because I think it should for historical purposes for one and secondly we get a ridiculous amount of traffic because of the amount of content we have on here through search engines. Google "LSU Tigers" without the quotes and look at us on the 2nd page. The only thing missing are active posters. If you make a post.. just see how many views it gets over a few hours / days. People are LOOKING. The trick.. which I haven't figured out is getting them to actually signup.. of if they've already signed up.. getting them to actually get involved.
Let me also add that all the club forums were an initial attempt to getting clubs at LSU to use the site to help market their organizations... it also gets us search results. What I would like to happen is that all of those entries would ideally be turned into an organizations database instead of forums with just 1 entry with the contact information.
Basically, if I had a team of coders who worked for free I'd rule the world.
So now my question to everyone here:
Give us your 2 cents.. what should TigerU be? (Other than the place you used to hang out, or the place you met your spouse / got a hand job because of...(at least 3 weddings have happened directly from this site and it's predecessors... I'm sure there have been some because of Mark Zuckerburg, but HE wasn't offened when he wasn't invited to the weddings  Of course I did the invitations for one of them so that's cool.. plus it was in vegas.. but shame on the other 2 couples.. you know who you are  )

Thanks AW. I hadn't thought about the angle on search key-words.
I like this site, and check as often as I can remember to do so. I post if I can think of something that might inspire others to post, because I love an active message board with shenanigans.
I don't know shit about 'phpnuke' or 'phpbb', but I'll do what I can to contribute otherwise.
Also, I say keep it TigerU. I.e. don't go to facebook. Keep it LSU.
And all you spectators out there, put together something amusing/interesting and submit it. Submit it to the admins - maybe a space for feature articles will evolve. This isn't rocket science - jiminy, lookit the mileage CollegeHumor is getting out of its "Would you rather..." column. Or, an entire feature article of WACKA WACKA WACKA, etc.
C'mon yaw.
