All guns should be thrown into a furnace and made into something more useful--such as, I don't know, better floodgates.

I know people who can take a single-action firearm and with a few parts easily (and legally) obtained on-line convert them into automatic weapons.

Sez who? The 2nd amendment was put in was to provide the citizenry a means of overthrowing their own government or disrupting its policies if/when necessary. (It was not to preserve hunting as a "sport".) Pick up a history book or two about the assassinations of McKinley, Archduke Ferdinand, and Anwar Sadat, just to pick a few, in your spare time. And while you're at it, look up governments that banned weapons among the citizenry and see how that worked out (hint: start with Nazi Germany).
Why don't we ban the car? People "may want them but they don't need them". There are plenty of buses, trains, planes, etc. Thousands of people are killed every year in car wrecks.

Or how about municipalities in US where citizens were required to own guns and crime DECREASED! Too bad at least one person in that VT classroom wasn't packing that day.
Frankly, I don't give a crap about other countries. This is the United Staes. Not France, not Denmark. There are reasons we're the most powerful (economically, militarily, culturally) on the planet, and believe it or not, a right to arms is one of those reasons.

Does gross inability to spell correctly qualify a person as mentally disturbed and disqualify them from even being near firearms?
Why take away the liberties of everyone just because this one single person flipped out? What good do more laws do? Cho already violated numerous university and state laws in place including: carrying a concealed weapon, discharging a weapon in public, carrying firearms on campus, carrying firearms in dormroom, entering a class in which he was not enrolled. Looks like the law-abiding citizens were made sitting ducks by obeying the laws.
How about this: one thing non-political spree killers have in common is social isolation, rejection, and ridicule. This means all those people who laughed at and/or ignored Cho are responsible for his despondence. So, let's make it illegal (with mandatory jail-time) to reject, ignore, ridicule, or scoff at another person.

I for one am glad that people in America have the right to carry guns. The more people who carry guns, the bigger chance they kill eachother and end their petty little ignorant lives. Each dead American is one less burden on this planet!! <o/
