A member of Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco's executive staff came into the "Kinko's" at which I work, frustrated and in need of immediate help. She needed a 4' x 6' sign mounted on foam plaster board by the next morning, she told us, and it was for a very important presentation by the Governor at the State Capitol Building at 9am Tuesday. In return, we'd be "on the good side of the Governor," which I interpret to mean, "The Governor won't run Kinko's out of Louisiana like so much Project U."
So let me get this straight: The Governor of Louisiana has a big important presentation tomorrow and she comes to Kinko's at the last minute to make the background banner? Literally thousands of people work at the State Capitol Building every day, and not one of 'em can handle the Xerox machine on the 27th floor?

Pardon me if I think this makes our Governor look Jessica Simpson-brand stupid. Okay: Nineteen year-old General Studies major from Delta Zeta has a presentation on puppies for her Interior Design class...she goes to Kinko's, not the damn Governor!
But I have to be fair to both sides. Former Governor Mike Foster likely had a last-minute thing or two come up here and there. But he would never send someone to do it for him; he'd show up himself, in his hot pants and wife-beater and tell us, "Hey fellas. That Japanese piece of crap of a copy machine at the Capitol Buildin' ain't actin' right, so can you fix this thing up for me tomorrow morning? Do it in black and white because I don't like paying so much for color copies. Thanks, boys. See y'all tomorrow. Oh--dinner at the mansion Thursday if y'all wanna come and watch the game. Y'all like pizza and beer?"
Look, Blanco--either be smart or cool. So far, you're neither. Now quit procrastinating and get back to work so this doesn't happen again. See if you can keep McDonald's from moving every Louisiana frachise to Texas.
By the way--guess what the sign said-- "New Ways To Do Business" You've gotta be kidding me....

Hunt Downer should be governor right now. Jindal shouldn't have run, it was too early for him to do it (IMHO). Don't get me wrong. I liked Jindal a lot. And I voted for him during the runoff. I just didn't think he was electable at that point in time to a state wide office.. and apparently he wasn't. I'm sure he'll do fine with the congressional race for Vitter's seat.
I think if Jindal had stayed out, Downer would have been the main Republican in the race. He would have gotten into the runoff and we wouldn't have as Andrea put it "the cunt" in there.. oh well.
