Post subject: The NRA Forum |
  |
|
This forum is for people who are in the National Rifle Association, or for those who would like to know more about this organization. I am not a member of the NRA, and am not completely up to date on their policies. I hope those who come across this forum are members and can post more information. I believe many of the things the NRA stands for. I own many guns, and there aint no way anybody is ganna take my guns away from me because it is my constitutional right to bear arms. However, what keeps me away from the NRA is that I dont think you should be allowed to own machine guns, sub-machine guns, etc. All of the guns I own are for one purpose: hunting. You dont need an AK-47 to hunt deer. I think that stupid movie Bowling for Columbine was not a fair representation of NRA members, and I hope people with intelligence realizes that too.

I'm a member of the NRA and although you may not need an AK-47 to hunt deer I do like to use an SKS.

I agree with Royce...I saw the movie "Runaway Jury" and it made me realize that we do need to monitor guns a little better in the USA also "the Elephant was also an eye opener

Emptying an AK-47 (SAR1)'s 40 round clip as fast as possible is pure pleasure. Don't burn your hand on the barrel though, use the upper handguard!

My dad is NRA, and I believe very person has the responsibility to learn how to operate a gun properly. Gun control to me is 2 hands on the gun.

Very true, please don't take my enthusiastic comment as an indication that I spray wildly into the populace. That's just a particular favorite firearm of mine. I've been recognized by NC as gun-safe for hunting since I was 11, and also hold a current CCW.
I am glad that folks here in La. are not as creeped out by firearms as they were in Chapel Hill. I've even met a few girls who have expressed an interest in a trip to the range!

You went to UNC Chapel Hill? That college pisses me off at all the liberal crap they require the students to do. I dont think that any college should require the incoming freshmen to read a book that praises Islam without including the negatives of it... and if a Christian objected they had to write a paper on why the objected. Also, the book this year was about liberalism. I think they should be fair and balanced about things.

Yeah, you'll get no argument from me that UNC-CH is super liberal. You know it when you slant your essays a little and get a better grade...oops, did I say that?

I also didnt appreciate it when they turned town 2 Christian clubs from organizing... one because non-Christians were not allowed to be in officer positions and the other because "there were too many Christian orgs already."

Don't expect that kind of treatment bud.

Honestly, do people think that they can walk into a gun shop and come out ten minutes later with a fully automatic weapon?
Yes you can still legally own/buy an automatic weapon after receiving a Class 3 license from the ATF, which includes an in-depth FBI background check, a tax stamp and transfer fee. The NRA needs to do a better job educating the general public. Just because an AR-15 looks like an M-16 it's not. Not to mention that it's f'ing ILLEGAL to hunt with an automatic weapon. Totally unsporting as well.
RWNugent would would John Kerry think of you hunting with an SKS?
I sure hope you took that evil bayonet off and have the magazine blocked to hold five rounds. RW, John Kerry and his ilk want our guns.
Funny thing, I never wanted an "assault weapon" until Clinton, Schumer, Boxer and Kerry said I couldn't have them.
BTW a pump or semi-automatic shotgun is far more deadly than an automatic rifle.

I usually prefer the 30-06, nothing fancy, but works. Handloaded ammo, virgin brass fits nicely into the chamber after an initial firing, just resize the neck of the case, etc.
The SAR (AK) launches the brass out too far to easily find, the extractor usually dents the case pretty bad as well, in addition to Berdan/Boxer primer complications. But you can drop it in the mud, shake it (maybe strip one round), and it will still fire reliably. Ammo is also dirt cheap.
Headslash: I have heard Massad Ayoob wrote some good books about combat with the shotgun and other firearms. The AWB will expire this Monday, you'll be able to get hi-cap mags again until they are banned..again. Now if I have missed any major Congressional action concerning it, I'm sure someone will mention it Saiga (original AK folks) makes a nice semi-auto clip-fed shotgun, too bad the pistol grip style isn't available here, nor is clips over 5 rounds, I don't know if that will change with the end of the ban.
