I thought it would be interesting to ask everyone to explain why either Bush or Kerry would be the better choice in the November elections. BUT - to avoid starting arguments, I must ask everyone to focus on the positive aspects of each candidate and not the negative of the other. This means no "Bush started a war and killed hundreds so you should vote for Kerry" or "Kerry changes his mind constantly, so he doesn't know what he wants." Your goal is to convince your fellow voters why either Bush or Kerry should be our President for the next four years, NOT why they shouldn't. I want everyone to convince me that I should vote FOR a candidate and not AGAINST a candidate.

Thus, your task: Convince me to vote for the candidate that will be the better choice for President for the next four years.

I'd go with Bush simply based on the fact that even though a lot of people attack him, and constantly harass him, he still does what he thinks is right for our country. That fact, that he doesn't back down, is something our country hasn't had in a president for a long, long, time, and is worth it's weight in gold. Can't say the same about ol' flip flop kerry.

It's like my sig. quote says.. "You can never know everything, and part of what you know is always wrong. Perhaps even the most important part. A portion of wisdom lies in knowing that. A portion of courage lies in going on anyway." I like having a president with the courage to not say "eerrr... no.. you guys are right.." when the pressure builds up.

I had a dream the other night that the United States was predominately Bush supporters to an almost cultish degree (This was a real dream). Tom Hanks, his wife, and I were running from them because we didn't want Bush to be reelected. The problem was that the support had gotten so wide, that anyone who didn't support Bush usually was killed by one of his many fans. My dad was in the dream too, driving the getaway car.

Although I have had this dream, and you didn't want "bashing candidates" as part of our debate, as the lesser of two evils I will give my empty support to Bush. Kerry just seems...without backbone. At least Bush has a good support system, and not all Republicans are that bad. Besides...Im not even registered, so who knows, I don't agree with any of the candidates, and I wish they had a option when voting "Neither, because they both suck ass." After all Bush only won from the Electors college, and not the popular vote. And Kerry is a ninny. Gosh...Im totally doing the opposite of what you asked so I guess I will stop.

I agree with Erin. There is no real winner in this situation. I'm voting for Kerry because he did serve in Vietnam, I know that everyone is going to say that he got three purple hearts and other medals by lying to superiors but I believe that is just more right wing republican spin. I wasn't there and I doubt seriously that anyone else on here was there with him either. While Kerry may change his mind on some subjects I can't really knock him for that, I was fully behind Bush four years ago. I just feel that this country has been let down and lied to by this administration. I think Bush and his cronies are putting their own personal, financial, and political agendas ahead of the best interests of this nation and I for one want to see a change.

Remember everyone, let's focus on the positive and not the negative. I want you to convince me to vote for a certain candidate because of his positive aspects, not the negative of the other.

It is politics therefore there are no positives. You only get to choose between the lesser of two evils.

I love the distinct difference between the left and the right as far as reasoning out why they'd vote for someone other than Bush. Insults. Nothing but. Facts? Oh no, we can just make those up later. *yawn* I'm going play on a boat now!

Okay people, basically I want to know why John Kerry would make a good president. Because he would replace Bush? Seriously, is that all he has?

IDIOTS IDIOTS IDIOTS!!!!!!!! Kerry could screw it up a lot more than Bush... the best of both candidates is Bush....career politicans like Kerry are NEVER good...it allows more corruption into the politics...Bush was never a career politican, Kerry was allowed plenty of scandal into the arena...look at the "Big Dig" scandal of Mass. when he was senator...I know what I am talking about.

Just FYI for anyone between the ages of 18-24 ( I think, may be 26), If Kerry is elected, he has already said that he is in favor of manditory service (the draft) for all sexes between that age range and it does not matter if you are in college or not. He could put this is action as early as spring 2005 as well.

The democrats have been running an "Anyone but Bush" campaign for months now. Any party that takes 9 people and has them fight it out without any one of them having a clear agenda besides "Beating Bush!" is not fit for election in my book. Kerry would to nothing but hurt our country. He can't stand on issues, and unlike Clinton, who was the same way, he doesn't have the slick tongue to make you believe that he can. Right now he's in favor of mandatory service in the military... this means that you, me, and a lot of other Tigeru members would be drafted. Of course, if it'll gain him a few votes, he'll flip to the other side.. This is just one of the reasons why I don't like him. You can judge for yourself if you want someone like that running the most powerful country in the world. Seems to me that 8 years of bullshit was enough, now the Democrats are scared that Bush might actually DO something for the country, and so they're belittling him as much as possible to downplay what he's doing.
