Post subject: Very informative site!! |

I happened across this site in my wanderings on the internet in my constant search for truth. It is very informative and is not just another Bush campaign ad. I know many of you have labeled me a liberal because of my anti-Bush views. After perusing this site however maybe I was wrong.

I dont care if people are liberal or conservative as long as they're fair about it... apply the rules equally to everyone. It seems to me that some liberals (not all) love this "free speech" stuff only when it applies to them.
I'm voting for Bush because:
#1 I hate the alternative
#2 I spend my money without someone else spending it for me
#3 You get less of what you tax, and you get more of what you subsidize.
#4 Ronald Reagan was the best darn President ever!!

I'm voting conservative because;
#1 I like spending my own money
#2 I don't like killing babies
#3 I support my troops even when it's not election time
#4 I love my country, and care about it.
Liberals are the opposite of each one.

Well, Phil, you are only partially correct. I'm liberal, but I only disagree with you on two of the above points.
#1 I, too, like spending my own money.
#2 I would not classify all abortions as "killing babies," seeing as how many are performed early enough that the life ended can hardly be called a "baby," at least not in the way we typically use the term. All abortions involve the termination of a pregnancy, but not the killing of a baby. In any case, I consider abortion a socially valuable medical procedure. I believe that the termination of a pregnancy is a small price to pay to avoid the far worse alternative: an unwanted child. Supporting the right to choose, from my perspective, is just about being realistic and advocating the lesser of two evils. Nobody is really "pro-abortion." Obviously, in a perfect world, there would be no need for abortions. In the world in which we live, though, I feel that abortion is sometimes the better course of action.
#3 I cannot support the actions of troops when I feel that their actions put us all at greater risk. Granted, they are only following orders; the greater fault lies higher up the food chain. I certainly do not wish our troops any misfortune, and I hope that as many as possible return home safely. I do not support the war they are fighting, though.
#4 I, too, love my country.
I'm not a Democrat (though I am idealogically more allied with the Democratics than with Republicans), but I am a liberal. We liberals are not so evil as you think, though. I believe that good people can agree to disagree. I believe that there are genuine, well-intentioned people in both camps. It is neither accurate nor constructive to assume that Americans who disagree with you are not patriotic, that they do not love their country. That kind of thinking is much of the reason I despise our current President. This country needs less finger-pointing and more cool-headed exchange of ideas.

yeah...I'm sick of this Reagan stuff, really...
I don't know who I'm voting for. I don't particularly like Kerry OR Bush, so...I dunno. I do agree with Bush on the partial birth abortion ban, but...I really don't know about the war; I think it was probably done for his own personal reasons, mainly to keep him in office. Iraq has been a problem for YEARS, and he just decides near the end of his term that we need to invade? I don't know much about politics but I DO know that it is very unlikely that a standing president would be voted out of office during a war. And as far as 9-11, I think that's not really a great excuse for a war in Iraq. Afghanistan? Yes. Iraq? Not so much...
But, like I said, I dont' know much about politics.

It's not a choice... it's a life. How big does something have to be to be alive? Isn't a paramecium (spelling?) or an ameba a life? If that woman doesn't want a baby, they have options now to leave the baby at an emergency room. Also, abortions are not a very safe procedure.
It's a terrible thing to kill someone else to save their own life has. Yet if you lose your life to save someone else, then you have done a greater thing than you can imagine.

As far as the subject of abortion goes...I would never think of voting to make it illegal. A woman's body is her own...even if there is a baby inside of it...and she has the right, as an American, to do what she wants with it. As long as a fetus is not seen as a baby legally, then we have no right to push our beliefs on everyone else. And, since I believe in freedom-I"m pro-choice.
Do I agree with it? No. But then again, I'm not a pregnant rape or incest victim, and I'm not a poor single mother of three who, for some glitch in the system, can not get on welfare or find a job. I would never have an abortion, and I advocate the use of birth control methods whole heartedly. I think it's ridiculous that so many people allow themselves to become pregnant and just think nothing of having an abortion. It really makes me sick. But I can't judge
I dont' care what anyone says, partial birth abortion is one of the sickest things in the world, and there is NO excuse for it.

You argue semantics. You said it. "the life ended". A life taken is a life killed, regardless of the age of the CHiLD.

Your brother and sister liberals tend to take it a bit far.. screaming baby killer at our boys, amongst other things. I can post a few stories if you'd like.. i have firsthand experience with this.. it's hillarious hanging around marines and army guys.

I don't doubt it, otherwise you wouldn't bother to have an opinion

the entire paragraph you posted does not just "point a finger" at our current president, whom you despise. Forgotten about the "fingerpointing" that got us into the 2000 election fiasco? Both sides are equal, and one man alone isn't solely responsible. I find that thought idiotic, but I can sort of respect it.

Great book to read:
The Official Handbook of the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy
It gives great arguments against certain liberal arguments.

not getting involved in this debate...Abortion is for SELFISH women and as for rape victims, killing the baby is not going to help the problem of the raped mother only psychological counseling will...killing the baby is just trying the bury a problem and when one buries problems rather than deals with them, it comes to haunt them later in life and by the way Kerry is a moron hands down, on the political campaign he shot the finger at a Vietnam Veteran in front of children, that is enough to display his morals and attitudes toward family and society. Look up the big dig Scandal with Kerry and Kennedy involved in Mass....he isn't that great and is a career politican and personally career politicans have reason to be corrupted by the political game than that of a non- career politican and Bush was never a career politican before his presidency
