By SAMANTHA MORGANSo this is your first year of college and you feel completely ready for the first day of class. Think you’re ready? Well, if you don’t have your PAWS account set up, you are not ready.
Setting up your PAWS account is becoming an absolute necessity, as it is hardcopies of fee bills, class schedules, and grades are no longer sent through the mail. If this is your first semester at LSU, you’re probably wondering what PAWS means. Don’t worry, you’re not alone.
PAWS, Personal Access Web Services, is offered to all LSU students, faculty and staff. It is an individualized web desktop and E-mail service allowing users to access any campus area without time or location constraints. Accessing accounts is as easy as getting online.
To set up your PAWS account, first go to the LSU homepage (www.lsu.edu) and click on the PAWS link at the top left of the menu bar. At the top of the next page is a button labeled LOGON TO PAWS, but before clicking this button, click the ABOUT PAWS link located directly below it. This will bring you to an area that will guide you through the process of creating your very own PAWS account.
Now that your account is set up, I bet you’re wondering what exactly you can do with it. The answer is you can do everything! There are so many features that it would take hours to fully explore each one.
The newest feature to hit the PAWS system is ‘Email Migration,’ which is essentially an upgrade from the current email system. As the system now stands, your PAWS login ID also serves as your email address (userid@lsu.edu). Under the new system, your email address will change to userid@paws.lsu.edu.
