By Nastassia AndariYa-Yas - make way for the new generation of the divine sisterhood found right here on the LSU campus.
The clay tile making leisure class, offered through the LSU Union, is a way for participants to meet new people and make interesting new bonds while pounding stresses away on a massive mound of clay.
“This will really tone you down,” said Laura Wailes, clay class participant. “You could come in here all stressed and leave feeling just fine.”
There was a unanimous vote that the class was in fact great at relieving stress. One participant went as far to say that it was even therapeutic.
“It’s my evening to get away from the house and do something for me,” said Jackie McManus. “It’s fun to meet people and get ideas about things and also get away from the stress of work.”
Coming with a friend or family member makes this class just as fun. One mother-daughter team was teaming up to work on making and designing leaf imprinted stepping stones.
The class is a great way to develop your artistic abilities, even if those abilities are meager at best. Just as the ages of the participants varied, so did their abilities. Some were first timers working with clay while others had taken previous ceramics or art classes. However, all are welcome to join this laid-back class.
