I just thought this was interesting.
The wonderful development group at tigerU has done it again. They created a topic that you, the user, can't post to. What does this do to help tigerU?
The answer is simple,
it helps people to see what kind of people run this place,
and what could be better PR for such a site as this one,
one that would love to be entwined into LSU student life,
yet restricts access to their site,
a problem such that people come here,
see that nothing is going on,
then leave forever,
forever leaving behind the same tigeru core group.
This is my ode to you, o core group-
enjoy your lives best,
and covet thy tiger-U,
hold it close and block all outer access.

hey jackass, the tuesday night bowling post is supposed to be INFORMATION and not a discussion, only reason i kept the 2 replies is because it was regarding more information about don carter's..
and answer me this.. how does "restricting access" as you .. er excuse me .. our "Anonymous Author" calls it... to this single post make people "see that nothing is going on" ??
How bout this, if someone were making a public announcement in front of a podium, and you wanted to get up there, but security didn't let you... Would it be the same case?

I agree with IHateU. My opinion is that the locking of the topics and all of this nonsense like "YOU didnt remind ME to do anything" is an issue of power. Each owner of this site is desperate to be important it seems. It almost makes me think the entire purpose of this site is to feel a sense of importance or fame. You noticed how offended benkenobi gets at any comment. TigerU's affiliates spend so much time deleting comments that might suggest negativity towards them. And that lowers their very high social status as a website founder! Anything that deviates away from their attention makes them very mad. If you want to be a celebrity, Benkenobi, AWE, and the rest of you, learn to be tolerant. If celebrities responded angrily to every piece of hate mail they ever recieved, they would be busy 24/7 writing stupid comebacks.
You want to feel important? you must learn to accept that there are people who hate you. You must learn to accept that there are people who hate your site.
Many people visit this site, mainly because they see the stamp everywhere, or a large banner flopping in the wind hanging from a bridge. They visit, and they DO indeed realize there is nothing going on and they leave. not because of the locked topic, but because of the lack of chatters... the weird conversations, and just the overall cockiness of the "core group". Trust me, the "spammers" aren't the reason why your site is unpopular. There are over 1700 members, and there is only the "core group" that regularily visit as IHateU stated. This is true, whether you like it or not. Replying angrily only indicates that you know this to be a fact, and it upsets you. Instead of getting offended at every little truth that's pointed out to you, just accept it. Ignore it. Change it. Deleting this post and every other post that pisses you off is proving their point.
The Ode to the "core group" pissed you off. Think about why it pissed you off.

Have you people EVER been to a site with a message board? Every one I've ever been to has included a section where the devs post 'notices' to make the members aware of certain issues. If you want to discuss it, make a post about it ... NOBODY is stopping you from doing so. If you want to overreact and show your ignorance in your internet use so be it ... but don't expect anyone to take you seriously.

What would you call them if they didn't Moderate? I have rarely seen posts deleted, and never for no reason. They made 9 discussion threads to discuss shit on. In fact, they labeled them. I'm sure if you put photoshopping posts in the sports section, they would simply move your post to the photoshopping thread or delete them because the poster (or you) is a jackass. They do this because they are moderators... it's what they do.

AWE and I have talked about why TigerU doesn't maintain an active user base. Do you think you are the only one who noticed that? There isn't much they can do to attract an active community other than advertise. These boards are in good condition... they are a good medium to host an active community. The Moderators are pretty much "hands off". It just seems like students at LSU aren't big into message boards. /shrug The "Core Group" are just the people who enjoy message boards, simple as that.
I think Nema had it right...

Dude, I think you should leave them alone. You just wrote an essay to someone who is just going to read half of it and laugh, while going to some other website because they are bored. Hell, I laughed at it. Not because you told them off well, but because their posts really did piss you off. It's pathetic.

Well, if I had to judge this thread as a competition, I'd say the winner goes to IHateU for his splendid ode that pissed off O coregroup, or should I just say you. Since no one else really acknowledged this post.

On a further note, wtf is up with this idea that we are not supposed to respond to criticism and rebuke. I understand that in some instances it is appropriate not to respond, but if someone slaps my face... I don't sit back and say "oh I'm going to be the bigger man and not do anything".
