➤ Students uniting for disability awareness
A new student organization called Students Uniting for Disability Awareness is uniting and speaking up for disabled students at LSU. Members of the organization hope to identify and address the problems that people with disabilities face at LSU while also promoting and establishing a greater awareness and understanding of these problems among the general student population. SUDA is now looking for students to help the organization. If you would like more information on the organization or learn how to join, email lsusuda@yahoo.com.
➤ New vice chancellor of communications
On Wednesday, July 13, Chancellor Sean O’Keefe announced that Michael Ruffner, associate vice president of university marketing and communications at Case Western Reserve University, had been chosen as LSU’s new vice chancellor for communications and university relations. The position that Ruffner will hold is a new one at LSU, and his duties include working with national media and the Legislature. Some Ruffner’s qualifications include a doctorate in mass communication and research from the University of Florida, a master’s degree in journalism/public relations from the University of Florida and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Washington and Jefferson College.
