Ok folks, it's that time of year again.
You know what I'm talkin bout.
Baton Rouge:
Jupiter (last Sat. night)
Artemis (this Friday, 17th. downtown, 7:00 pm; looks like maybe rain, but going anyway)
Orion (this Saturday, 18th, downtown, 6:30 pm; looks like rain, but going anyway)
Capitale Mystique (this Saturday, 18th, downtown 2:00 pm; maybe rain, but going anyway)
Mutts (people walking dogs, no floats, no throws) (Sunday, 19th, downtown mid-day)
Southdowns (next Fri, 24th, between Perkins, Stanford, & Lee, 7:00 pm)
Spanish Town (next Sat., 25th, downtown, mid-day)
New Orleans:
What the hell - do a search or get Arthur Hardy's guide. Too many to post here.
I'll start.
Jupiter: Cold and windy but worth the wait (sort of). Nice floats, but by the time they got to Convention street didn't throw much. I caught a grand total of 4 beads. Shoulda gone to Florida or 3rd. A few local High School bands freezing their arses off. A couple of dance troupes, one with the speakers clipped so bad the tune was "bzzzzt bzt bzt bzzzt bzzt bzzzt bzt bzt bzzzzt."

Artemis: great show. Nice weather. Beautiful royalty floats & costumes. Decent bands. Pretty good throws, although some of these women need to figure out how to throw more than three beads per block. Summary: worth the time.
Mystique de la Capitale: Overcast. Sort of cold, but not too bad. Thin crowd. Caught a neck-full of small beads. Worth the time.
Orion: Cold as f-. Small crowd but LOTS of throws. Piles of beads & cups on the ground. People with bead bags overflowing. But, cold as f- ... wait, I already said that. Worth the time.
Next: Southdowns (Friday night) and Spanish Town (Saturday).
